For outdoor enthusiasts, Remhoogte Farming Accommodation offers a variety of activities to enjoy, including multiple hiking trails, mountain bike trails, and 4x4 routes. Guests can indulge in bird-watching or spot wildlife roaming freely in the area. There is also a large swimming pool with communal braai area which is accessible to all our self-catering guests and campers. Whether seeking adventure or seeking solace in nature, this property provides the ideal retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life.

What to expect

Satellite internet

Self-catering guests are supplied with 1GB of free satellite internet. Additional vouchers can be purchased by guests and campers.

Wood for sale

Self-catering guests are supplied with one small bundle of wood daily, free of charge. Extra wood is for sale to both self-catering guests and campers.

Swimming Pool

We have a new (very large!) swimming pool with adjacent toilet and shower facility, open to all self-catering and campers. There is also a braai and picnic area if you want to spend a whole day by the pool with your family and friends.

Hiking & 4x4

There are various hiking and 4x4 trails on the Remhoogte property. The 4x4 trails are challenging and only for experienced drivers. Hikers and drivers attempt these trails at their own risk.

Site-seeing

Sesriem/Sossusvlei

A visit to Sesriem/Sossusvlei is certainly a major attraction if you are staying with us – especially if you are here for more than one night and want to embark on a day-trip. The Sesriem Reserve includes Sossusvlei, Dune 45, Hidden Vlei, Dead Vlei and Big Daddy Dune. Budget for a two-hour drive from our property gate to Sossusvlei (151 km). When you arrive at the Sesriem gate (the gate opens at daybreak) it's another 45 minute drive from the entrance to the sites. Wear closed shoes appropriate for a long walk and clothing to protect against the sun. Take a small rucksack with water, snacks, hat and sunscreen. It’s best to leave Remhoogte very early in the morning to be at the Sesriem gate when it opens.

Sesriem Canyon

Sesriem Canyon is 5km from the Sesriem gate.

Huispos

200m - All Activities
Illuminated man-made waterhole towards the east, visible from chalet verandas. (Easy)

Modderpos

300m All - Activities
Illuminated man-made waterhole towards the north, visible from Kokerboom and Hartvy verandas. (Easy)

Daskop

400m - Hiking, Running
Koppie/hillock immediately to the east when viewed from the Kokerboom and Hartvy verandas. (Short, but steep)

ArRie-Se-Plek

2.3km All - 4x4
Class 6 Trail southwards into the valley with a steep increase in elevation. “ArRie-Se-Plek” is a koppie/hillock with a family cairn of remembrance. (Challenging and steep)

Sonpos

2.5km - Hiking, Cycling, Running
Illuminated man-made waterhole/dam north of the homestead and which you would have seen to your right as you drove onto the property; the trail follows the dry riverbed, a tributary of the Tsondab River. (Easy to intermediate)

Waterval

3km All Acitivties - 4x4 Class 5
This trail follows the valley looking east from the chalets; the trail can be followed with 4x4 up to a clearly marked point, whereafter the waterfall location is reached on foot. Note that there’s only water at Waterval during times of heavy rains/floods. (Intermediate)
